When in dawn the sun refuses to shine
when in dawn but there is no sign
I find myself once again across the line

When in dawn and the bottle is empty
when in dawn I know that you meant me
I find myself somewhere in a dream called we

I’d get out of bed, but no
I’ve nothing to do, nowhere to go
The sun is out there hiding still
the sun that’s master to winters will
as it runs in giant circles like me and you

When in dawn and the moon has retreated
waiting for its chance to be repeated
the sun is somewhere hiding behind a shadow cast by you
